I did a little Yoga in the 90s and for a long time I had been thinking about re-starting it. I first went to jayne's class in March this year (2011), and immediately felt comfortable with the warm welcome I received. After not knowing much about Kundalini yoga and only taking part in a Hatha yoga class once, I went along to Jayne's class not quite sure what it was all about and what I was looking for, but knowing that I needed something that would be good exercise as well as relaxing and would aid my spiritual development. Two years later I have never looked back. I really enjoy the mix of kriyas/postures, mantra and meditation. The postures keep me really toned and the meditation and mantras have helped to keep me balanced and give me a relaxed and positive outlook on life. Jayne is a great teacher and her classes are very enjoyable. Jayne is a highly competent instructor who runs easy going group classes to predetermined effective formats. She has a kindly approach taking into account the needs of the individual. If you are reading this now you have already come a long way in terms of spiritual understanding so why not take the final step and come along? I guarantee you will notice the difference after one set or 'kriya', although I would recommend two sessions per week for maximum efficacy. Positive change requires positive action!

Life Transitions

It is inevitable that most people experience change at some point in their lives.  Sometimes these changes are unexpected and may feel challenging.  As human beings we are designed with coping mechanisms to allow the process of change, both consciously and unconsciously through the structure and flow of life.  Kundalini yoga provides a toolkit for life to guide and help us through these transitions.

The mind releases about one thousand thoughts at the blink of an eye.  We are constantly processing these thoughts and the accompanying feelings.  Without regular meditation, any thoughts not dealt with go into our subconscious mind and we lose control of the outcome and the timing of the reaction to those thoughts.  This phenomenon increases during times of rapid and intense change.  If we are physically strong and emotionally centred, we can embrace these changes with humility and grace. 

The practice of Kundalini yoga strengthens us to the core so that we can remain neutral and still through any change.  Our two main physiological systems; the nervous system and glandular system become strong enough to deal with additional stress on our physical body and we cultivate a neutral mind so that we are able to ride the wave and see the bigger picture.  We see challenges as opportunities to grow and that any suffering offers us a portal to raising our consciousness.

We may also want to consider the timing of these changes in the Cycle of Life. Humanology is the applied science and psychology of the human psyche for fulfilment of human potential in mind, body and spirit.  Humanology presents practical lifestyle guidelines to balance our physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  Kundalini yoga is a lifestyle tool to enable your potential by cultivating awareness of the mind, body and connection to the spirit.  When we apply awareness to our lives, we can listen to and act on signals in our body, become aware of the egoic mind and make choices for our highest good.
